Due to the natural characteristics of exotic leathers and the artisanal dyeing processes we use, some color transfer may occur—especially when the item is new or exposed to moisture, heat, or friction.

Color Transfer Disclaimer

Please note that darker-colored leathers, particularly in exotic varieties such as caiman, lizard, or ostrich, may release dye when in contact with light-colored fabrics. This is a natural property of richly dyed leather and does not indicate a defect.

Artifex Leather Works is not responsible for any damage to garments or upholstery resulting from dye transfer.

Care Instructions

To help preserve the beauty and longevity of your leather item:

• Avoid prolonged contact with light-colored fabrics, especially in humid or wet conditions.
• Do not expose the product to excessive moisture, direct sunlight, or extreme heat.
• Store in a cool, dry place when not in use. Avoid storing in plastic; use a dust bag or breathable pouch.
• Use a leather conditioner suitable for exotic leathers occasionally to maintain suppleness (always spot-test first).
• Do not attempt to clean with water or household cleaners; consult a leather care professional if needed.

With proper care, your Artifex piece will age gracefully and develop a rich patina unique to its journey.

These products are handcrafted from authentic exotic animal leather, no two products will be alike and each one is unique. There may be a slight variation in shade of leather and grain from photos. Artifex Leather does not guarantee or is responsible for color matching of our goods to any existing clothing, shoes or accessories in your wardrobe. 

Please contact us here, and we may suggest items that closely resemble the color you are looking for. However, all our leathers will vary in grain and shades of color, no two animals are the same. To achieve true color matching, all items intended to match must be cut from the same leather.

Returns, exchanges & refunds will not be processed due to issues with color matching.
